Live-In Care in Peacehaven

Need to arrange live-in care for your family member?

“People were truly respected and valued as individuals, and empowered as partners in their care.” — Care Quality Commission (CQC)

Round-the-clock care at home, built around your loved one

People put down roots in Peacehaven for the home and the life around it: a bungalow off South Coast Road, sea air coming in off the Channel, the slower pace up on the clifftops. When staying there safely starts to feel harder, most families want more than practical help. Live-in care is how they hold on to what matters, with one trusted carer in the home day and night, a mum or dad who still feels safe and known in their own surroundings, and no need to leave the town for a care home somewhere inland.

That is the kind of care Cheriton Homecare was built to provide. Our founder, Richard Barnett, spent 12 years caring personally for his grandfather Bill through Alzheimer’s. That experience is woven into everything we do: the way we match carers, the way we stay involved, and the way we treat every person we support as an individual.

As a CQC-regulated provider rated Outstanding in Caring, we offer fully managed live-in care with the oversight and consistency that families rely on.

"Staff are friendly and kind. Ready to go the extra mile to make sure your needs are met."

Practical, one-to-one help for life at home

Our live-in care service becomes part of the rhythm of your loved one’s day, offering support that feels like a natural extension of home life rather than an outside intervention. That might be a lift to an appointment at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton or the GP at Well Peacehaven on Meridian Way, a trip to the Meridian Centre, or simply company through the afternoon, with one carer who handles the driving, the timing, and everything in between.

Personal care

Help with washing, dressing, bathing, continence, and mobility, always handled with privacy and dignity.

Companionship

Conversation, shared routines, and trips out, so days feel social rather than isolating.

Medication reminders

Prompting, monitoring, and reordering prescriptions so doses are taken safely and on time.

Alzheimer's disease & dementia care

Consistent, familiar support that eases confusion and keeps daily routines steady as memory changes.

Palliative care

Gentle end-of-life support at home, working alongside district nurses and GPs to keep your loved one comfortable.

Household chores and assistance

Cooking, laundry, light cleaning, and shopping, keeping the home running and comfortable.

Live-in care vs. 24-Hour care: understanding the difference

People often use “live-in care” and “24-hour care” to mean the same thing, and for most families they do. One carer lives in your loved one’s home and supports them through the day, sleeping at night but on hand if needed.

The exception is someone who needs help repeatedly through the night, every night, which calls for waking-night cover rather than relying on a single live-in carer’s rest. If that sounds like your situation, raise it when we talk and we will advise on the right arrangement.

Visiting care is different again: carers call at set times rather than staying over. For someone fairly independent in nearby Newhaven or Seaford who needs occasional help rather than a constant presence, that can be the better fit.

How much should you expect live-in care to cost?

The cost depends on how much support your loved one needs each day and whether care is for one person or a couple. We are transparent about pricing from the outset.

  • Live-in care is charged weekly
  • Prices start from £1,190 per week for one person
  • Prices start from £1,476 per week for couples
  • Fees cover full-time, one-to-one support from a live-in carer who stays in the home

Why families want care that feels personal, not clinical

Cheriton is a Brighton-based provider, six miles from Peacehaven, so your care is coordinated locally, not from a distant call centre. Our founder and Registered Manager, Richard Barnett, began as an Army medic and has spent over three decades in care, and the same small team knows every family by name.

  • Regulated and independently rated. Fully CQC regulated, and rated 9.8 out of 10 by families on homecare.co.uk.
  • You vet the carer first. Every carer is enhanced-DBS checked and fully trained, and you get a profile so you know who is coming into the home.
  • Layered oversight. You choose the carer, and senior management monitor the coordinator running each care plan.
  • A plan built in the home. Our Field Care Supervisor visits first to assess risks and shape care around real routines and changing needs.
  • Continuity that holds. Consistent carers, digital records, and fast-start cover when a situation changes.

What families often want to know before making a decision

Yes. Our carers support people in the way they choose to live, stepping in when help is needed and stepping back when it is not. Independence and dignity sit at the heart of how we work.

Absolutely. We provide live-in care for couples, with support shaped around both people and how they live together at home.

We take time to get to know your loved one before care begins: their daily rhythms, their preferences, and what matters most to them. Everything is built around their life.

Live-in care works in most home settings. The main practical need is a comfortable private space for the carer. We are happy to talk through any questions about your loved one’s home when we speak.

Yes. We adjust the level of support as your loved one’s needs change, so there is no need to find a new provider or start again as circumstances evolve.
