Looking for live-in care in Sussex?

We are proud to offer quality live-in care throughout the Sussex region. Live-in care is a popular alternative to living in a care home. It enables our clients to stay in familiar surroundings and remain close to the people and places that mean the most to them.

A live-in carer will quickly become a part of your household, providing much-needed support with everyday tasks. They can help with simple things like personal care and mobility, while also assisting with medication and domestic tasks. They are also excellent companions.

Live-in care gives you access to around 8 hours of care per day, spread over 24 hours. It also gives you the added reassurance of knowing that someone is close in an emergency. If more support is required, we can supplement with additional carers.

Benefits of live-in care

Live-in care offers a wide range of benefits to both the client and their family members. The most popular reason to choose live-in care is to stay in the comfort of your own home, but there are wider benefits to consider.

You’ll have access to bespoke, one-on-one care that is perfectly tailored to match your needs. When you choose one of our friendly live-in carers, you’ll enjoy the following unique benefits:

  • Maintain independence

Stay independent for longer by remaining in your home and accessing the care you need to live with dignity and pride.

  • Local carers

We hire local carers with in-depth local knowledge, which means you’ll have a local expert on hand to help you stay connected to your community.

  • Family support

When choosing live-in care, your family can be involved in the care planning process, which means they will benefit from expert support in making care decisions.

  • Incredible value

This type of care offers incredible value for money when compared to alternatives such as residential care or sheltered living.

  • Flexible care

This type of care arrangement is very flexible and we can accommodate long or short term arrangements to meet your changing needs.

  • Improved health outcomes

Live-in care has been linked to improved health outcomes as a result of the excellent continuity of care that can be provided.

They are also a great source of reassurance for family members to know that you are not alone in your home. And finally, they are excellent companions and will ensure you remain connected with friends, family and your community.

When you choose live-in care from Cheriton Homecare, you’ll benefit from the local knowledge of our care staff. This can help you to make the most of your years and ensure you live your life to the fullest.

What do live-in carers help with?

The level of care you receive will depend on your care plan. We take the time to create a care plan that works for you and then remain flexible to changes. Your carer could help with a diverse range of tasks, including meal planning, cooking, light housework, shopping and gardening. We can also provide pet care if required.

Personal care is also covered, including washing, dressing, grooming and health monitoring. We can keep an eye on vitals such as blood pressure or blood sugar levels. Your carer can also provide continence care and catheter support. Carers can also coordinate with your GP and other healthcare providers to ensure you can attend appointments and take the right medications.

A live-in carer also provides companionship and support to attend social events. They will help you to stay connected with friends and family, either in person or using digital technology.

Live-in care FAQs

Do carers need their own room?

Yes, your carer will need their own room. This helps to ensure everyone has privacy and can relax. They will also have designated breaks throughout the day, so they won’t be available around the clock unless it is an emergency.

What can carers not do?

A live-in carer should not carry out the duties that should be left to nursing staff. This included administering injections and changing dressings.

Do live-in carers do the cleaning?

While they can help with light housework, live-in carers are not cleaners. Their skills are better put to use in helping you with personal care rather than cleaning your property. For large homes, we would recommend hiring a cleaner.
