Finding live-in care

What is live-in care in Horley?

The majority of elderly care is delivered in residential care homes, but this arrangement doesn’t work for everyone. Rather than moving out of your home and downsizing to a smaller property to access care, live-in care will allow you to stay in the comfort of your own home in the Horley area.

With our assistance, you can access bespoke care that is perfectly tailored to your needs. We deliver care with compassion and understanding and recognise that it isn’t always easy to ask for help and support. We make the process easier by ensuring you don’t have to sell your home, downsize and uproot your life.

Customised live-in care plans

How does live-in care work?

Every live-in care arrangement is unique to the client, so we start with an initial meeting to learn more about you and your needs. From there, we can create a bespoke care plan that will meet your needs while also allowing you to live with a sense of independence for as long as possible.

Once you are matched with a carer, they will move into your home and provide care based on a pre-arranged schedule. They will have regular breaks and downtime, so they are not expected to provide care on a 24/7 basis. It can be very reassuring to clients and their family members to have someone in your home with you at night in the event of an emergency.

Meeting your needs

What can live-in carers help with?

Live-in carers can help with a wide range of tasks that will ensure you are able to live a rich and varied life. They can assist with household tasks, such as food shopping, meal planning, cooking and light housework such as laundry and cleaning. They can also take on small gardening tasks and help care for family pets.

If you have a very large property, we will often recommend hiring a cleaner or housekeeper to assist with upkeep. This will ensure your live-in carer can focus their time on care services, rather than worrying about the housework.

They are also trained to provide personal care, including bathing, grooming and dressing. They can also help with personal hygiene routines and also deliver catheter support and incontinence care. If you need help with healthcare concerns, such as administering medications and monitoring health vitals, this can also be added to your care plan and daily routine.

Your live-in carer will also be a valuable companion, and they will be available for regular chats over a cup of tea. Our compassionate carers recognise that illness, disability and ageing can be very isolating, so they will work hard to ensure you can remain connected to your family, friends and community.

Live-in care FAQs

Before placing a live-in carer with a client, we will consider the skills, experience, and compatibility of the caregivers available. Preferences and specific needs are taken into account to ensure a suitable match. While some carers specialise in short-term placements, others are more experienced with long-term care.

While your live-in carer might not be there to provide 24/7 support, we have procedures in place to assist you in the event of an emergency outside of your carer’s usual hours. If you need any other support when your carer isn’t available, you can also contact our head office team.
